Moily releases 7 volumes of books on Jain teachings

Karkala, Feb 8, 2012: Dr. M. Veerappa Moily, the union minister for corporate affairs, released seven volumes of books on Jain teachings, at a special book release ceremony held at Nallur on Feb 8 Wednesday.

Delivering the benedictory address, Charukeerthi Bhattarama Mahaswamiji of Shravana Belagola expressed his appreciation of Moily for making an effort to establish the Prakrita Study Centre, which facilitates the translation of Jain books into Kannada. He said that seven volumes have been released as a result of the work done in this centre.

 

 

 

Swastisri Bhattaraka Panditacharya Swamiji of Jain Mutt in Moodubidri presided over the event. Shri Sudesh Sagar Muniraj was also present.

A grand procession of honored guests, accompanied by music, formed the beginning of this event.

Moily released by books by taking them out of a silver box after a number of religious rituals such as Shruta Puja and Ashtavadhana Puja.

V. Dhananjaya Kumar, the former union minister and representative of the government of Karnataka in New Delhi, Karkala MLA Gopal Bhandary, Nallur GP President Uday Kumar Jain, and many others addressed the gathering.

Delivering the introductory address, Dr. M. A. Jayachandra Bangalore spoke about the importance of the newly released books.

M. K. Vijay Kumar received the first copy of these volumes from the Swamiji.

Among those present were entrepreneur Aravind Doshi, Hemavathi V. Heggade, M. N. Rajendra Kumar, and many others.
