Mobile court inaugurated in court premises

Mangalore, June 3, 2012: Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the taluk-level legal literacy chariot and mobile Janatha Court in the premises of the Court Complex on June 2, Saturday at an inauguration ceremony organized by the DK District Legal Service Authority of Mangalore, police department, district administration, and other departments, G. Nijagannavar, judge of the District Sessions Court, said that the purpose of the legal chariot is to give legal knowledge to common people. 


S. P. Changappa, president of the Mangalore Bar Association, told reporters on the sidelines that the Janatha Court and the legal chariot serves three purposes—spreading legal knowledge among the public, providing free legal service to the poor, and solve cases that have not yet been solved in the Lok Adalat.

Further, he said that many pending Lok Adalat cases will be heard by the Janatha Court in the premises of the District Court on June 5. He said that cases related to the ST/SC communities, labourers, women, disabled, and children will be given top priority. 


He also said that the government has identified 25 cents land in the premises of the court to construct the office building of the Mangalore Bar Association. He said that the association has already prepared the blueprint and the estimated cost of the building is Rs. 6 crore. The association will request the state government to bear part of the cost and the foundation stone will be laid by the end of this month, he added. 


The legal chariot and Janatha Court will travel all over Mangalore during the next 4 days.
