Missing 3 yr old girl found dead in drain near Pumpwell

Mangalore, May 03, 2014: In a shocking incident, the body of a three year old girl  was found in a drain  near Pumpwell on May 3, Saturday morning. The girl named Srinidhi (3), daughter of Lokesh and Veda Poojari of Hassan was   missing  since May 2, Friday night.

It is said Srinidhi  was last seen  playing close by a place where a drain was under construction. Her mother is a warden of a hostel near Pumpwell, while her father resides in Hassan.

Veda and other locals who made a frantic search for the child  till late night, had later lodged a complaint of missing at Mangalore Rural Police Station.

 

The body of the child was found in a drain on Saturday morning close by the place where she was playing. However, there has now arisen a suspicion about the cause of her death as the under construction drain  near which she was playing is not connected to  the drain where her body was found.

Local corporator Asha D’Silva too has visited the spot and the body has been shifted to Wenlock Hospital for a post-mortem.

Investigations are underway.
