Minority Welfare to prioritize education says Qamarul Islam

Mangaluru May 21, 2016: Minority Welfare and Wakf Minister Qamarul Islam said that Minority welfare will prioritize education to utilize the funds sanctioned during 2016-17 budget.

Speaking to the press at Circuit House today Friday May 20, he said that 1443 crores has been sanctioned for the minority welfare during 2016-17 budget. It has been three years completion of the Siddrammaih’s charge nearly 2528 crores has been sanctioned in three years compared to only 1,145 crores during five years of UPA Government.

He said that as per the Congress manifesto out of 168 promises 120 promises have fulfilled in which 10 promises are regard to Minority welfare in which 8 are fulfilled and the other two are in progress. So it is important to get coverage of 100% in the field of education.

In the past three years over 360 students were sent abroad for studies under several schemes which comes under Minority welfare and also training is provided in different places for IAS, IPS and KAS, he added.

Nearly 17 crores is been sanctioned to construct Haj Bhavan in Kalburgi while Maulana Azad Information centre will also be constructed in Kenjar, said Qamarul Islam.

On question of Media Person Regard to the Wakf property Qamarul Islam said that, it is estimated that nearly 34,000 acre of land has been owned by Wakf all over the state while in Dakshina Kannada nearly 333 acre of land among 685 properties and there had not been a proper enumeration of wakf properties in the state, except one done in 1964. Government initiates fresh survey through revenue department to map wakf properties.
