Minority Community fishermen’s co-operative society honours Union Minister

Mangalore, Jan 17, 2013: Union Ministry for Minority Affairs K Rahman Khan was felicitated on behalf of the Karavali Minority Community Fishermen’s Primary Co-operative Society at the old port on January 16, Wednesday.

On this occasion, the members of the Society drew the attention of the minister towards several of their demands including setting up of an ice plant of 100 metric tonne capacity, a storage room and diesel and kerosene oil distribution bunk. The office bearers of the society also informed the minister that appeal in this regard have already been made to the fisheries officials.

Responding to the felicitation conferred on him, Khan said he would consider the demands placed forth by the Sangha. He also promised to get bank loans at lower interest rates to the society members.

Gulzar Banu, Mangalore Mayor, UT Khader, MLA, BA Moidin, former minister were among others present.
