Minister warns private hospitals from levying higher bills for Covid treatment

Mangaluru, Jun 10, 2021: DK District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary has said that private hospitals should  collect only the prescribed  amount fixed by the government for the treatment of Covid patients. In the event of any private hospital collecting additional amount, then measures need to be taken to reimburse the same,  he said.

The Minister was presiding over a meeting held at the DC Office Auditorium on June 9, Wednesday to discuss the issues relating to the bills  issued by private hospitals for treatment of Covid patients. He said the administration was receiving complaints of private hospitals charging over and above the  amount fixed by the government and  said the Nodal officers of the respective hospitals have to look into this issue and should certify the   discharge summary as well as details relating to treatment costs.

He also stated that show cause notice should be issued to nodal officials who show dereliction of duty. The Minister further said private hospitals cannot collect advance amount while admitting Covid patients.

Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra, ZP CEO Kumar,  Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharath Shetty were also present.
