The Minister had earlier in the day visited various places in the city to inspect works taken up under Smart City Scheme.

The Minister instructed the officials to ensure that the roads dug up are closed and repaired by the contractors concerned. He also asked them to conduct a spot check every week to ensure construction wastes are cleared.

He also warned that the officials concerned would be suspended if no action was taken before his next meeting in the following month.

The Minister was also not happy with the  pace of progress of the 24x7 drinking water project. When officials informed him that  pipeline laying has been completed  for 250 kms out of the total 1385 kms, he questioned when the pending  works will be completed.

The Minister also instructed officials to speed up the process of granting TDR certificates to those who have let land for development projects.

MLC Manjunath Bhandari who spoke at the meeting said the Smart City Project has gone off track as only road development works are in progress.

Reacting to the same, Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra clarified that it was not the case and there was only a delay in taking up other projects.
