Bantwal, May 13, 2020: Around 500 migrant workers from Jarkhand, including men, women and children who were frustrated on not getting an opportunity to travel back to their home state and had set out on foot to Jarkhand on Tuesday night were finally persuaded by the police officials and public to stay back. They were even assured that travel arrangements would be made for them in the next three days.
Finally, the workers bowed before pressure and agreed to camp at the Buntara Bhavan at Bantwal where food arrangements were also made for them under the leadership of Mangaluru MLA Vedavyas Kamath. The authorities had stopped the workers at Arkula where senior officials including SP interacted with them. They are presently camping at the Buntara Bhavan near the Brahmarakootlu toll gate.
Meanwhile, some good Samaritans of the locality had made arrangements for water and fruits for the migrants at Farangipete and Thumbay on coming to know that the workers had set out on foot.
