Melkar: One dead, four injured as car crashes into divider

Bantwal, Oct 29, 2025: A car rammed into a road divider on National Highway 75 at Melkar on Tuesday night, resulting in the death of the driver and injuries to four others.

The deceased has been identified as Karthik (23), a resident of Savanur in Kadaba taluk. The injured have been identified as his friends — Harshith, Deekshith, Jagadeesh, and Nithin — all residents of Savanur.

The accident occurred when the group was traveling from Mangaluru towards Savanur. The car reportedly lost control on the newly constructed Melkar elevated road and crashed into the divider. Driver Karthik, who sustained severe injuries, succumbed to them.

A case has been registered at the Bantwal Traffic Police Station.
