Mayoral election postponed

Mangaluru, Mar 01, 2022: The elections to the post of Mayor, Deputy Mayor and the posts of four Standing Committees scheduled to be held on March 2 have been postponed. The City Corporation Commissioner has issued an order to this effect.

 

The Mayor post is reserved for general category and Deputy Mayor post to Backward Class A category.  The Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra had earlier written to the Urban Development Department seeking to know if an SC order of January 19 is also applicable to MCC election. However, as there has  been no clarification from the government and following a directive from the  Regional Commissioner’s office in Mangaluru, the election has been postponed.
