Mariamma festival in Kaup attracts huge crowds

Udupi, Mar 29, 2012 : The three Mariamma temples in Kaup offered Mari Puja on March 27 Tuesday, the events attracting huge crowds of devotees from DK, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Shimoga, Kasargod, and Chikmagalur as well as from Mumbai.

 

 

 

The celebrations at Hale Mariamma Temple, Hosa Mariamma Temple, and Moorane Marigudi are ongoing. Roosters, goats, and sheep were sacrificed on March 28 Wednesday.

Security was beefed up and hundreds of police officers, under the leadership of Shivananda Valekar, the circle inspector of Kaup, were deployed for the purpose.
