Manorama Madhwaraj returns to the BJP

Udupi, Feb 29, 2012 : The re-entry of Manorama Madharaj, the former MP, into the Bharathiya Janatha Party (BJP) might turn out to be beneficial for the party in the Udupi – Chikmagalur Lok Sabha by polls.

 

Ms. Madhwaraj, who quit the BJP four years back, was enthusiastically welcomed back at a public BJP meeting.

It may be noted that Ms. Madhwaraj returned shortly after V. Sunil Kumar, the BJP candidate, filed his nominations for the by polls.

BJP workers shouted slogans in her praise and yelled for joy when she garlanded Mr. Kumar and publicly expressed her support of him.

Ms. Madhwaraj quit the BJP and the Lok Sabha in 2008 when she voted in favor of the Congress party during a vote of confidence motion. She had stated that she had taken that decision because she opposed the BJP-supported coal-based thermal power project.
