Manjeshwar : Check post officials seize pan masala products worth Rs one cr

Kasargod, Jan4,2013: Pan masala products worth Rs one crore which were illegally transported in a container truck were seized by checkpost officials at  Manjeshwar-Vamanjoor  on January 3, Thursday. The driver and cleaner of the truck have been taken into custody. 

It is learnt, the products were being transported to Kochi from Haryana. The lorry driver Harshad (34) and cleaner Tahir (24) are from Haryana. It was found that the products  had labels bearing the  name “Cool Lip”  and were found in 35 boxes.  Pan Masala products are banned in Kerala by the government.

The arrested duo have been handed over to the custody of Manjeshwar police.
