Udupi, June 25, 2013: Police on Tuesday released the CCTV footage of the night an MBBS student of Manipal University in Karnataka was raped by three unidentified men. The footage shows an autorickshaw going out of the Manipal campus at 11:36 pm in the night and then an autorickshaw entering the campus at 2:51 am.However, the numberplate of the autorickshaw is not visible on the CCTV footage.
IGP Western Range Pratap Reddy has announced a cash reward of Rs 2 lakh to anyone who will furnish information to the police regarding the accused in the gang rape of Manipal University student.

Speaking to reporters here on June 25, Tuesday, the IGP said the police have so far not made any arrest in the case. He said the identity of the informers will be strictly kept confidential.
The Udupi Police had earlier released sketch of one of the suspects. The sketch was prepared on the basis of the description given by the 22-year old survivor, who was abducted by three persons from Manipal University campus while she was returning to her room from the library and gangraped last week.
So far, the police have questioned 30 people, including seven people who resembled the sketch of the suspect released. However, Manipal colleges remained shut as a mark of protest over the police’s inability to catch the rapists of the medical student. There have been major protests in Udupi and Mangalore everyday as no arrests have yet been made in the case. Four suspects, who were detained by the police earlier have also been released.
