
Manipal, June 27, 2013 : The Vishwa Hindu Parishat and the Bhajrangdal have warned that they will give a call for a Udupi bundh if the police fail to arrest the culprits responsible for the gang rape of a medical student of Manipal University by June 27, Thursday evening.




The organizations gave the ultimatum during a protest meet held near Tiger Circle in Manipal on June 26, Wednesday. They also took out a protest march from Syndicate Circle to Tiger Circle.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhajrangdal leader Sharan Pumpwell, said such incidents would not have occurred had the police been strict in curbing drug mence and immoral activities in Manipal. He also stressed the need to put an end to late night parties.Stating that the home minister KJ George has failed in his duties, Sharan also demanded his resignation.
Suprasad Shetty, VHP District President, Akshaya Gokhale, Manjunath Mandya, Sunil KR and others took part in the protest.
