Manipal: Student booked for photographing JEE Main question paper, attempted leak

Manipal, Apr 7, 2026: A case has been registered at the Manipal Police Station against a student for allegedly photographing the JEE Main question paper and attempting to circulate it during the examination.

The JEE Main exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), was held on April 5 at the TMA Pai Polytechnic College examination centre in Manipal. The test was conducted in two sessions — morning and afternoon — with 149 students appearing in the morning and 133 in the afternoon.

The afternoon session began at 3 pm. As per guidelines, students were permitted to enter the examination hall only with valid identification such as an original Aadhaar card or PAN card, along with their hall ticket.

According to a complaint filed by exam centre observer V.K. Manohar Kumar, a student from Uttarakhand, identified as Aridaman Singh Sang, allegedly used a mobile phone inside the exam hall to take photographs of the question paper displayed on the computer system and attempted to send them outside for circulation.

Based on the complaint, Manipal police have registered a case and initiated further investigation.
