
Manipal, Mar 14, 2026: Manipal police have successfully solved a daytime house burglary case within 12 hours and arrested four accused, including two minors.
The arrested have been identified as Santosh alias Santosh Poleshi (20), originally from Vijayapura and currently residing at Hanuman Nagar in Udupi Puttur, and Chiranthan (21) of Kalmadi in Kodavoor village. Two other accused are minors.

According to police, the accused broke into the house of Sangeetha Madivala at Shantinagar in 80 Badagubettu village on March 12 by removing roof tiles. They allegedly entered the house and stole gold, silver, and cash kept in a cupboard, amounting to several lakhs of rupees. A case had been registered at the Manipal Police Station.
During the investigation, a special police team detained two men and two minors who were found behaving suspiciously near the Simbra bridge in Manipal on March 13. During questioning, they reportedly confessed to committing the burglary at Shantinagar.
Police later recovered gold and silver ornaments, jewellery, cash, and tools used in the crime worth ₹4,47,000 from the accused.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar and Additional SP Sudhakar S. Nayak, and under the direction of Udupi DySP Belliyappa K. The team included Manipal Police Inspector Mahesh Prasad, PSI Thimmesh B.N., staff members Vishwajit Belle, Mohammed Ajwal Haikady, Chetan, Raviraj, station investigation assistants Suresh Shetty and Sukumar Shetty, jeep driver Saleem, Satish, and Udupi CDR division personnel Dinesh and Nithin.
