Manipal: Police bust prostitution racket; one arrested, another absconding

Udupi, July 17, 2025: Manipal police have uncovered an illegal prostitution racket during a raid on an apartment in Eshwar Nagar. Acting on a tip-off, the raid was conducted on July 16 at Room No. 103, first floor, Malsa Emerald Apartments, 20th Cross, Eshwar Nagar, Herga Village.

Authorities received information that a woman was being forcibly confined and exploited for illegal commercial gain. She was rescued from the premises during the operation.

The main accused, Ganesh Ganap Nayak (38), a resident of Honnavar taluk, was taken into custody and produced before the court. A second suspect is currently absconding. A case has been registered at the Manipal Police Station.
