Mangaluru, Oct 11, 2025: For the first time, Mangaluru will host the Chief Minister - Mangaluru India International Challenge Badminton Tournament from October 27 to November 2.
The state government has sanctioned ₹1 crore for the event. The inauguration of the tournament will be attended by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, according to District In-charge Minister and Health Minister Dinesh Gundurao.
Speaking about the event, he described it as a matter of pride for Mangaluru, emphasizing that it is an internationally recognized tournament. A sports complex has been constructed at a cost of ₹40 crore, featuring 11 courts, of which 8 will be used for the tournament.
The competition will see participation from 350 players from across India and 100 international players.
At a press conference, former minister Abhayachandra Jain, Puttur MLA Ashok Rai, MLCs Ivan D’Souza and Manjunath Bhandari, along with Santosh, President of the DK District Badminton Association, and others were present.
