Mangaluru police to file suo motu cases in Ullal road rage incident

Mangaluru, Aug 17, 2025: The Mangaluru City Police will register suo motu cases in connection with a road rage incident that occurred near a toll gate under Ullal police station limits on Saturday evening.

City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH said cases are being filed against both parties involved in the altercation.

According to the preliminary probe, the incident began when a blue car carrying a woman, her 19-year-old son, and a few children was passing through the toll gate. A white car, with three boys and two girls, allegedly attempted to avoid paying toll by using the same lane. While trying to speed through, the white car reportedly brushed against the blue car.

The occupants of the blue car chased and stopped the white vehicle, leading to a heated argument and scuffle between the groups before the public intervened. Later, the white car occupants returned, argued again with the other party, and left the spot.

Both sides have submitted complaints. “Action will be taken after a thorough investigation under relevant sections of law,” the commissioner said.
