The District Food Safety and Drug Administration Department has instructed all ice manufacturing units to use only good-quality water for producing ice meant for fish preservation. It emphasised that clean and hygienically prepared ice is essential to maintain the freshness and quality of fish.

The department also issued a strict warning against the use of formalin or any other chemicals to preserve fish.
