Mangaluru gold trader robbery: Police release photos of 14 accused, seek public help

Mangaluru, Jul 6, 2026: The Mangaluru City Police have identified the accused involved in the robbery of a gold trader and have launched a manhunt in Kerala and Kodagu to arrest them. The police have also released photographs of the suspects and appealed to the public for information leading to their capture.

According to the police, Shibin Gangadharan, a native of Puducherry, is believed to be the mastermind behind the robbery. Photographs of all 14 accused have been released. The suspects have been identified as Srirag, Atul, Mithun Lal, Azeer Tharayil, Vaishakh, Aseer Payyanur, Pranav, Vigil Anjarakandy, Ubaid of Kodagu, Firoz, Moydu Abbas, Ziyad and Jameer Alika, most of whom are from various districts of Kerala.

As the accused remain absconding, the Mangaluru police have sought the public’s assistance in tracing them. The police said a reward will be announced for anyone providing credible information leading to the arrest of the accused, and the identity of informants will be kept confidential.

The photographs and names of the accused have been circulated across Karnataka and Kerala, and posters carrying their details are being displayed at public places. Mangaluru police are coordinating with the Kerala Police and have conducted searches at multiple locations, but with no breakthrough so far, they decided to release the photographs to the public.

The robbery took place in the early hours of June 29 on the highway near Baikampady in Mangaluru. A gang intercepted the car of a gold trader, assaulted him, and robbed him of 180 grams of gold and other valuables worth around ₹23 lakh.

So far, Panambur police have arrested three persons for allegedly assisting the main accused. The arrested have been identified as Nimil from Talakkery and Irshad and Mustafa from Madikeri.

The police said the 14-member gang has been identified and special teams have been deployed in Kerala and Kodagu to trace and arrest the absconding accused.
