Mangaluru, Mar 31, 2026: The ongoing conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States has begun to impact auto rickshaw drivers in Mangaluru. A severe shortage of auto LPG at most petrol pumps across the city has pushed drivers into distress.
With fuel unavailable at major outlets, long queues of auto rickshaws can be seen at the few pumps that still have LPG in stock. Near St Agnes College in Bendorewell, hundreds of auto rickshaws lined up along the road at a “Go Gas” outlet where LPG was available.
Drivers are being forced to spend hours in queues, setting aside their daily work just to refill gas. This has significantly affected their daily earnings.
Most auto rickshaws in the city depend on LPG. However, disruptions in supply over the past few days have left drivers struggling. “We have been searching for gas since morning. Standing in long queues is wasting all our working hours,” drivers complained.
Auto drivers have urged authorities and fuel companies to immediately resolve the supply issue and ensure availability of LPG at all petrol pumps. If the shortage continues, it could severely impact the city’s transport system.
