
Mangaluru, December 19, 2025: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Palakkad Division, Southern Railway, has taken swift action in connection with a stone-pelting incident that posed a serious threat to passenger safety.
The incident occurred near Mangaluru Junction Railway Station, where stones were pelted at Train No. 20645 Vande Bharat Express, causing damage to the window glass. A case was registered by the RPF under Section 153 of the Railway Act. Following an investigation, a special RPF team arrested Subjit Mullick (23) on December 18.

During interrogation, the accused admitted to committing the act while under the influence of alcohol. He has been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
In a press release, the Palakkad Division stated that stone pelting on trains is a serious criminal offence. Whether committed intentionally or under intoxication, offenders will be arrested and prosecuted. Such reckless acts can lead to grievous injuries, loss of innocent lives, and significant damage to railway property.
The RPF reiterated its zero-tolerance policy and affirmed its commitment to securing the maximum punishment under the law for those involved in such offences.
