Mangaluru: Woman wanted in 2019 housemaid theft case arrested after five years

Mangaluru, September 10, 2026: Kavoor police have arrested a 44-year-old woman who had been absconding for around five years in connection with a housemaid theft case registered in 2019.

The accused has been identified as Latha Maria (44), wife of late Lasrado Maria, a resident of Ananda Nagar, Akash Bhavan, Mangaluru.

The case was registered at Kavoor Police Station as Crime No. 33/2019 under Section 381 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). It is pending before the Senior Civil Judge and Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Mangaluru, under LPC No. 05/2024.

An arrest warrant had been issued against Latha Maria after she repeatedly failed to appear before the court and remained absconding for around five years. She was subsequently declared an LPC (Long Pending Case) accused.

Acting on the warrant, Kavoor police officials and personnel traced and apprehended her at Jyothi Nagar, Mangaluru.
