Mangaluru: Woman alleges sexual assault, blackmail by Hindutva outfit leader

Mangaluru, Sep 29, 2025: A young woman has lodged a complaint with Bajpe police, accusing Samith Raj, a leader of Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV), of sexual assault, blackmail, and threats.

According to the complaint, on March 23, 2023, the woman was allegedly forced into Samith Raj’s car while returning home from college and taken to a secluded spot on Airport Road, where he attempted to assault her. When she resisted and raised an alarm, she claims he gagged her and threatened to kill her and her family if she reported the incident.

The complaint further alleges that Raj continued to threaten her, coerced her into sending explicit photographs, and blackmailed her by threatening to post them on social media.

Police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations.
