Mangaluru: Vande Bharat to conduct another trial run on September 10 amid push for convenient timings

Mangaluru, September 10, 2026: The Bengaluru–Mangaluru Vande Bharat Express is scheduled to undertake another trial run on Thursday, September 10, primarily to finalise its timings.

The train will depart from Yeshwanthpur in Bengaluru in the morning and is expected to reach Mangaluru Central Railway Station in the afternoon, before returning to Bengaluru.

The Vande Bharat train had earlier conducted a trial run between Bengaluru and Mangaluru on September 5, mainly to assess and finalise the timetable. It reached Mangaluru Central and returned to Bengaluru. However, due to technical issues, the train arrived in Mangaluru nearly two hours later than the scheduled time.

Railway officials said another trial run would be conducted on Thursday to assess the timings.

During the earlier trial, the train departed Bengaluru at around 6 am and reached Mangaluru in the evening. Railway users have urged the authorities not to adopt this schedule for regular services. Instead, they have suggested that the train depart Mangaluru at 5 or 6 am, reach Bengaluru before noon, and leave Bengaluru for Mangaluru around 4 pm.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that efforts are underway to extend the Bengaluru–Mangaluru Vande Bharat service to Madgaon (Goa). Railway users in Dakshina Kannada have opposed the proposed extension and urged the authorities not to extend the service, stating that the priority should be to provide a convenient and practical schedule for passengers travelling between Mangaluru and Bengaluru.
