Mangaluru: Ullal police arrest absconding NDPS accused who failed to appear before court

Ullal, Jun 10, 2026: The Ullal Police have arrested an accused who had been absconding after failing to appear before the court in connection with an NDPS case registered under the jurisdiction of the Ullal Police Station.

The accused has been identified as Fazal (31), son of Mohammed Ali and a resident of Pachilambar in Uppala, Kasaragod district. He is an accused in Ullal Police Station Crime No. 76/2021, registered under Sections 8(c) and 21(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.


Abscond

Although Fazal had been released on bail in 2021, he later failed to appear before the court and had been absconding since then. Police had initiated legal action against him for evading the court proceedings.

On June 9, 2026, the police traced and arrested the accused from his residence in Uppala. He was subsequently produced before the Principal District and Sessions Court, Mangaluru, in connection with Special Case No. 23/2026.

After hearing the matter, the court remanded the accused to judicial custody.
