Mangaluru: Two undertrial prisoners found with mobile phones in district jail

Mangaluru, July 10, 2026: A case has been registered at the Barke Police Station after two undertrial prisoners were found in possession of mobile phones inside the District Jail at Kodialbail.

The inmates have been identified as Mohammed Ajmal and Mohammed Iqbal.

According to police, Jail Superintendent Sharan Basappa, along with prison staff, conducted a search in Room No. 3 of the ’A’ Block of the prison on the night of July 7. During the inspection, a mobile phone was recovered from Ajmal’s possession. Another mobile phone was also found with Iqbal, who was lodged in the same room.

Following the incident, a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
