
Mangaluru, Nov 8, 2025: In a major crackdown on drug peddling, the Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested two individuals accused of supplying the banned narcotic MDMA to members of the public and college students. A total of 24.57 grams of MDMA was seized during the operations.
Acting on a tip-off, the CCB police conducted a raid on November 4 near the Mangaluru port and dock area, arresting Abdul Salam (39), an auto-rickshaw driver from SH Nagar, Adyar, Kannur, Mangaluru. Police recovered MDMA worth ₹1.2 lakh, along with an auto-rickshaw, mobile phone, weighing scale, and zip-lock covers — all valued at around ₹2.3 lakh. A case has been registered at the Mangaluru South Police Station.
In another operation on November 6, the CCB team arrested Mohammad Naseer alias Shakir alias Chaki (28) of Jaradagudde House, Boliyaru, Ullal taluk, for allegedly selling drugs to students and the public in the Boliyaru area. Police seized MDMA worth ₹1.2 lakh, a Yamaha FZ bike, a mobile phone, and zip-lock packets, with the total value estimated at ₹2.05 lakh. A case has been registered at the Konaje Police Station.
Police sources said that more individuals are suspected to be part of the drug distribution network, and efforts are on to trace and arrest them.
