Mangaluru: Two arrested in separate drug peddling cases

Mangaluru, Aug. 20, 2026: Police arrested two persons in separate operations conducted by stations under the Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate limits for allegedly selling narcotic substances.

In the first case, Kadri police received information that a man aged around 30-35 years was selling MDMA from an autorickshaw parked along the service road between Pumpwell and Nanthoor. Acting on the tip-off, police conducted a raid on August 18 and arrested Mohammed Irshad (30) of Vorkady, Manjeshwar.

Drug peddlars


Police seized 13.69 grams of MDMA worth approximately ₹1.36 lakh, cash, and the autorickshaw used for the crime. The total value of the seized property is estimated at ₹2.94 lakh. A case has been registered, and the accused has been remanded to judicial custody.

In the second case, Surathkal police arrested Nithin Krishnan (27) of Chirupuzha village in Kerala’s Kannur district, who was allegedly supplying ganja to college students in the Surathkal police station limits. He was working as a therapist at an Ayurvedic clinic near Padavu Maidan in Kadri village.

Police seized 1.206 kg of ganja worth around ₹60,000, along with a motorcycle and a mobile phone. The accused was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.

According to Surathkal police, the arrest followed information obtained during the interrogation of Ashwin Xavier (24), who had been booked on August 17 for consuming ganja. During questioning, he revealed details about Nithin Krishnan’s alleged involvement in supplying ganja to college students, leading to the operation and subsequent arrest.
