Mangaluru: Three notorious Nepalese burglars arrested; gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh recovered

Mangaluru, July 18, 2026: Mangaluru Police have arrested three notorious Nepalese nationals involved in an interstate house burglary case and recovered gold and silver ornaments worth approximately Rs 10 lakh in connection with a house theft reported in the city.

The arrested accused have been identified as Tilak Kumar Khadka alias Tilak Khadka (36) from Chainpur district, Nepal; Ashok Raj alias Ashok Singh alias Ashok Singh Thakuri (33) from Bajhang district, Nepal; and Dipender Rasaili (25) from Kailali district, Nepal.

Theft case


According to police, the burglary took place at a house in Mathadakani near Urwa Market. On the evening of July 11, the house owners had locked their home and travelled to Kadambu in Vittal, Bantwal taluk, to visit relatives. When they returned on the morning of July 12, they found that burglars had broken open the rear door of the house and entered the premises.

The accused allegedly stole around 64 grams of gold jewellery, Rs 25,000 in cash, and other valuables worth a total of Rs 8.57 lakh. Based on the complaint, Barke Police registered a case under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation.

Within five days of registering the case, a team from Barke Police Station tracked down and arrested the three accused at Bolur in the early hours of July 17.

During interrogation, police recovered all the stolen gold jewellery related to the Barke Police case. They also seized 790 grams of silver jewellery allegedly stolen by the accused in a burglary in Nashik, Maharashtra, taking the total value of the recovered property to around Rs 10 lakh.

Police further revealed that the accused had also attempted a house burglary in March within the jurisdiction of Urwa Police Station in Mangaluru, although nothing was stolen in that incident. A case had already been registered under relevant provisions of the BNS, and during questioning, the accused confessed to their involvement.

Investigators have also found that the trio is allegedly involved in more than 15 house burglary cases across Karnataka, including in Bengaluru, Davanagere, and Udupi. Cases are also reported against them in Tamil Nadu, Delhi, and Haryana, and police are collecting further information as part of the ongoing investigation.

The accused will be produced before the jurisdictional court.

The operation was carried out by officers and personnel of Barke Police Station, who successfully traced and arrested the accused.
