Mangaluru: Three land records officials caught by Lokayukta while taking bribe from outsourced worker

Mangaluru, Nov 28, 2025: Three officials from the assistant director of land records offices in Ullal and Mangaluru taluk were caught by Lokayukta police on Wednesday for allegedly accepting bribes totalling ₹30,000 from an outsourced employee.

According to a press release from the Karnataka Lokayukta, Mangaluru division, the complainant—an outsourced worker at the UPOR office in Mangaluru—alleged that the officials demanded money to process his pending salary bill and issue an order extending his outsourced service.

The press note stated that Krishnamurthy, a surveyor at the Ullal land records office, had initially demanded ₹50,000. BK Raju, assistant director of land records, Mangaluru taluk, allegedly sought ₹10,000, while S. Dhanashekar, survey supervisor at the same office, also demanded ₹10,000.

On November 26, Krishnamurthy was caught red-handed accepting ₹20,000 from the complainant. BK Raju and S. Dhanashekar were trapped while receiving ₹5,000 each.

All three officials have been taken into custody, and an investigation is in progress.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Kumarchandra, superintendent of police (in-charge), Karnataka Lokayukta, Mangaluru division. The trap team included Dr. Gana P. Kumar, deputy superintendent of police, and inspectors Suresh Kumar P., Bharti J., Chandrashekhar K. N., Ravi Pawar and Rajendra Naid M. N.
