Mangaluru: Three arrested for assaulting beat police personnel near Kodikal

Mangaluru, May 28, 2026: Police have arrested the accused who had allegedly assaulted police personnel on night beat duty near Kodikal in the city. The three accused, who had fled to Kerala after the incident, were traced and arrested by the CCB police.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sachin K.R. (24), a resident of Arasinamakki in Belthangady taluk, and Chandan (24) from Nelyadi. The bike used for the crime has been seized.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 2.10 am on May 24 in front of the Narayanaguru Community Hall Road at Kodikal under the limits of Urwa Police Station. The accused arrived on a red electric scooter, and one of the persons riding pillion suddenly attacked a police constable on beat duty by hitting him on the head with a piece of cement sheet.

During the investigation, the CCB police traced the accused in the Kanhangad area of Kerala on May 26 and took them into custody. They were later handed over to the Urwa Police Station for further action.

Investigation revealed that the accused, who were employed in the city, had been staying in a rented house at Phalguni Nagar in Ashoknagar, Mangaluru. Police said the accused attacked the personnel with a piece of cement sheet after becoming enraged when beat police stopped and questioned them while they were roaming around late at night.
