Mangaluru: Swami Suhitananda Calls for Higher Ideals at Prajna Seminar

Mangaluru, September 14, 2025: Swami Suhitananda, vice-president of Ramakrishna Mutt and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Mutt, Howrah, urged students to pursue not only good jobs and high salaries but also higher ideals and socially beneficial activities to become ideal citizens. He was speaking at the inauguration of Prajna, a seminar for professional students organised as part of the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations of the Mangaluru Ramakrishna Mission on Saturday.

Highlighting the contribution of the local Mutt, he said the Mangaluru Ramakrishna Mission has added a new dimension to society by promoting cleanliness and inspiring positive thinking among people. Swami Muktidananda, president of Mysuru Ramakrishna Ashrama and trustee of Ramakrishna Mutt and Ramakrishna Mission and Swami Jitakamananda, president of Mangaluru Ramakrishna Mutt, were present.

Addressing the gathering, MRPL Executive Director (Projects) B.H.V. Prasad stressed the importance of cultivating a positive attitude, calling it the “secret behind many successful individuals.” He noted that MRPL’s decade-long association with the Mission through the Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan had fostered awareness not only about public cleanliness but also about purity of mind and thought.

Following the inauguration, sessions were conducted by eminent speakers. Swami Mahamedhananda, Director of Ramakrishna Institute of Moral and Spiritual Education, Mysuru, led the first session, while K. Raghottama Rao, Director of MANAS Training Centre, Bengaluru, delivered the second.

A panel discussion on Balancing Career Success with Community Service was moderated by Swachh Mangaluru Campaign chief coordinator Ranjan Bellarpady, with panelists Smita Hegde, research director at the Centre for Advanced Learning, Santosh Pai, head of HR at Infosys India, Mangaluru, and Shashank Shetty, founder and managing director of S Cube Group.
