Mangaluru, July 7, 2025: A new park named Sindhoora Vijaya Udyanavana—built to commemorate Operation Sindhoora Vijaya—was inaugurated on Saturday near National Highway 66 at Kottara Chowki in the 16th Bangrakulur Ward under Mangaluru City Corporation. The project was executed by the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
The park, constructed at a cost of ₹42.35 lakh, is dedicated to honouring the sacrifices of Indian soldiers. MUDA Chairman Sadashiva Ullal inaugurated the park in the presence of Mangaluru North MLA Dr. Bharath Shetty Y., who presided over the event.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Bharath Shetty recalled that the foundation stone for the park was laid during his first term as MLA. "Local corporators and residents had requested the construction of a war memorial at this junction to honour the sacrifices of our soldiers. Our soldiers leave their families behind and defend our nation at the borders, ensuring the safety of our people. This park stands as a tribute to their sacrifice, and its location at a key entry point to the city adds to its significance," he said.
Several dignitaries were present at the event, including MUDA members Neeraj Chandrapal, Abdul Jaleel, Suman Das, and Sabitha Miskith; MUDA Commissioner Mohammed Nazir; Assistant Executive Engineer Ashwini; Assistant Engineer Akbar Bhasha; and former MCC members Manoj Kumar, Kiran Kumar Kodikal, and Ranjini Kotian. BJP leaders Sitheesh Konde, Ashith Nond, Hariprasad Shetty, Umesh Malarayasana, Sanjeeth Shetty, and Ramesh also attended.
