Mangaluru, Aug 12, 2026: SDPI leaders staged a road protest in the city on Wednesday, condemning the removal of flex banners and flags put up by the party’s youth wing, ‘Young Democrats’, by the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) and police.

The leaders alleged that the promotional materials were deliberately removed due to political pressure. They accused the civic authorities and police of discrimination, claiming that no similar action was taken when flexes and banners were put up by other political parties and organisations.

The protesters also alleged that the action was aimed at preventing the success of their programme to mobilise young people. They warned that if such a stance continued, they would be forced to remove banners put up by other organisations themselves.

The protest led to a brief gathering of SDPI workers on the road, who raised slogans against the MCC and police and demanded an end to what they termed discriminatory action.
