Mangaluru: Retired Army officer Major D.M. Nizamuddin passes away

Mangaluru, Aug 4, 2026: Retired Army officer Major D.M. Nizamuddin passed away on Monday. He was 87.

A resident of Bolar in Mangaluru, Major Nizamuddin had served in the Indian Army and participated in the 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars. He sustained injuries during the 1971 war while serving the nation.

After retiring from military service, he remained actively involved in social and religious activities. He served for several years as the treasurer of Bolar Juma Masjid, contributing significantly to the community.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, relatives and a large number of admirers.

Family members said the public can pay their last respects at his residence near Emmekere Cross Road, Bolar, until 11 a.m. on Tuesday. The funeral will be held at Bolar Juma Masjid after Zuhr prayers.
