Mangaluru: Protest demands reintroduction of women’s reservation bill, equal political representation

Mangaluru, Apr 23, 2026: A protest was held in front of the Mini Vidhana Soudha opposite the Town Hall in Mangaluru, expressing support for the Nari Shakti Women’s Reservation Bill and demanding the reintroduction of reservation for women.

The demonstrators alleged that the Congress government had defeated the Women’s Reservation Bill and urged that women be given equal opportunities in the political arena. They called for the immediate reinstatement of reservation to ensure fair representation.

Sahana Kundar addressed the gathering as the chief speaker. Rekha Sudesh and Sullia MLA Bhagirathi Murulya also shared their views. Bharati Prabhu delivered the introductory remarks, while Sindhu M compered the programme.

A large number of women and members of the public participated in the protest, raising slogans in support of women’s rights.
