
Konaje, January 17, 2026: With the objective of making Mangaluru drug-free and ensuring drug-free educational campuses, the police have launched an anti-drug drive. As part of this drive, students from several colleges in the Ullal and Konaje areas were screened and subjected to drug tests on Friday.
The operation was carried out by stopping college buses of various institutions and conducting checks on the students.

Students from Nitte University (K.S. Hegde), Kanachur Institute, P.A. College, St Aloysius College, and the Fisheries College at Ekkur, falling under the Konaje and Ullal police station limits, were screened. Students travelling in both private buses and college buses were subjected to testing.
So far, a total of 103 tests have been completed, of which 101 have returned negative results. At present, 10 tests are in progress. One student reportedly attempted to evade the testing process, and necessary action is being taken as per procedure. All other students tested negative.
The police stated that sustained efforts by the police, civil administration, media, educational institutions and civil society are yielding positive results in the anti-drug campaign.
