
Mangaluru, Jun 13, 2026: Police have arrested three persons who were allegedly attempting to illegally sell elephant tusks near Jodukatte, Maroli, in Padil village of the city.
The accused have been identified as Shashanka Puduvettu of Beltangady, Abdul Khader of Manjeshwar and Prabhachandra of Attavar. During the operation, police seized two cars and two elephant tusks weighing a total of 42.700 kg from their possession.
The raid was carried out under the guidance of Pavan Nejjur, IPS, Superintendent of Police, CID Forest Unit, Bengaluru and Madikeri. The operation was led by Dilip G.R., Police Sub-Inspector of the CID Forest Mobile Squad, Mangaluru. Personnel including Jayaram K.T., Balakrishna K.M., Taranath S. and Abdul Rauf also participated in the operation.
