Mangaluru: Plans afoot to build permanent helipad, says DK DC Darshan H.V

Mangaluru, Feb 6, 2026: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Darshan H.V. said that there is a need to construct a permanent helipad for helicopters in Mangaluru, and efforts are currently underway to identify a suitable location for the same.

He was speaking at an interaction programme held at the Mangaluru Press Club on Thursday.

He stated that since Mangaluru has several hospitals, a helipad is essential for medical emergencies, VIP movement, and heli-tourism. At present, the city does not have a dedicated helipad, and this leads to difficulties every time VIPs visit the city. A permanent helipad would also greatly benefit the promotion of heli-tourism, he added.
