Mangaluru, July 19, 2025: In a commendable act, an ambulance driver from Sullia transported a critically ill newborn from Mangaluru to Bengaluru in just 4 hours and 50 minutes for emergency treatment.
Hanif, an ambulance driver from KVG Hospital in Sullia, drove the 15-day-old infant from a private hospital in Mangaluru to the Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences in Bengaluru. The newborn was suffering from a serious heart condition, and doctors advised urgent transfer for specialized care.
Following the parents’ request, Hanif immediately left for Mangaluru and began the journey on July 17 at 4 PM. He reached Jayadeva Hospital by 8:50 PM, demonstrating extraordinary urgency and dedication.
The route taken was via Mangaluru–Puttur–Sullia–Madikeri–Mysuru to Bengaluru. Authorities had been informed in advance about the ambulance’s journey, enabling smooth passage. Public cooperation and support ensured a hassle-free ride.
Zero traffic was facilitated by the police through highway patrolling units at key locations. The effort also involved support from KVG Ambulance Services, Sullia’s Shiva Ambulance driver Shiva, and Sameer, along with the police department.
