Mangaluru: Navasahaja community stages protest seeking justice in Lavanya murder case

Mangaluru, Jul 18, 2026: Members of the Navasahaja community staged a protest in Mangaluru condemning the murder of a young woman, Lavanya, at B.C. Road in Bantwal taluk and demanding justice for the victim.

The protesters gathered in front of the Clock Tower in Mangaluru, denouncing the brutal killing that took place near the B.C. Road bus stand. Raising slogans, they demanded the strictest punishment for the accused, Chetan, including capital punishment.

Following the demonstration, the protesters marched to the Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police’s office and submitted a memorandum seeking speedy investigation and justice.

The shocking murder at B.C. Road had sent shockwaves across the coastal city. Police have already arrested the accused in connection with the case.
