Mangaluru: National-level powerlifter dies after falling from building

Mangaluru, June 5, 2026: A national-level powerlifter died after falling from the fourth floor of a building where he was carrying out welding work near Padavinangady in Mangaluru.

The deceased has been identified as Santosh Poojary (45).

A resident of Dharmanagar in Ullal, Santosh was also a member of the Shakti Bharat Gymnasium in Thokkottu. According to reports, he accidentally lost his balance and fell from the fourth floor while engaged in welding work at a building in Padavinangady. He suffered severe head injuries in the fall and later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital despite medical treatment.

Santosh had previously worked as a welder abroad. After returning to his hometown, he had started his own welding shop at Bail in Ullal.

He is survived by his wife, who is currently employed overseas.
