
Mangaluru, December 10, 2025: A “Nasha Mukta Mangaluru” (Drug-Free Mangaluru) campaign will be organised on a grand scale with 102 programmes on December 27, 2025, in collaboration with Mangaluru City Police, announced Suhail Kandak at a press conference. The campaign is being organised by the Make a Change Foundation.
The event will be inaugurated by the Hon’ble Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker UT Khader, Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta, the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada, and the Mangaluru City Police Commissioner, along with several other dignitaries. Notably, religious leaders including the Bishop of Mangalore, Swamijis of Ramakrishna Math, and Mangalore Khazis will join the campaign. Popular Tulu actors will also extend their support.

This campaign is aimed especially at the youth, particularly students, and will feature several state-level competitions, including:
Reel & Short Video Contest: Youth can create 30–60-second reels or short videos to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
Drug-Free Innovation Model Exhibition: Inter-college platform for students to display models or innovations promoting a drug-free Mangaluru.
Paper Presentation: Students can submit and present papers with new ideas on preventing drug abuse.
Fitness Challenge: To be held at a prominent mall in Mangaluru.
Digital Poster Contest: Participants can design creative posters promoting drug-free awareness.
One-Day Influencer: A programme encouraging youth to spread anti-drug messages creatively as social influencers.
Flash Mob: Awareness through music and dance performances in public places.
The campaign aims to create awareness about drug misuse among youth and build a responsible, creative society. The inauguration will take place on December 27, 2025, at the TMA Pai International Convention Centre, Mangaluru, and all youths, especially students, are invited to participate.
ACP Ravish Nayak, Congress leader Vikas Shetty, Born Again Recovery Centre’s Bina Saldanha, Alwyn D’Souza, Abdul Aziz, and Abhishek Valmiki were present at the press conference.
