Mangaluru, Oct 29, 2026: Dakshina Kannada MP and BJP state secretary Captain Brijesh Chowta has said that teachers and graduate voters in Karnataka have taught a fitting lesson to the Congress government by ensuring a resounding victory for NDA candidates in all four Legislative Council constituencies.

In a statement, Chowta said the results reflected public dissatisfaction with what he described as the anti-people policies and misgovernance of the Congress government led by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.

He said the results should serve as an eye-opener for the Congress and Rahul Gandhi, who, he alleged, frequently question the credibility of electronic voting machines (EVMs). He pointed out that the Legislative Council elections were conducted using ballot papers and said the Congress’s failure to win any of the four seats demonstrated the extent of public discontent with the ruling party.

"Even after this defeat, will Rahul Gandhi blame ballot papers or the discerning voters themselves? The Congress cannot conceal its decline through political theatrics. The results have once again shown that Rahul Gandhi has lost his political relevance in Karnataka and across the country," Chowta said.

He added that voters had chosen deserving NDA candidates for the Legislative Council, which he described as a deliberative body, expressing confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Alleging that Karnataka had witnessed little development since the Congress came to power, Chowta accused the government of depleting the state treasury in the name of guarantee schemes. He criticised the government’s response to farmers’ difficulties, alleging that it had pleaded a lack of funds to provide assistance.

He further accused the Congress government of pushing Karnataka, once a key engine of India’s economic growth, towards financial instability through corruption and misgovernance. He said the election results were a response from educated voters to what he described as the party’s misinformation campaigns, repeated attacks on constitutional institutions and misuse of public funds.

Chowta said removing what he termed an anti-people, inefficient and corrupt Congress government was the only way to restore Karnataka to the path of development. He urged voters to remain alert and teach the ruling party a fitting lesson in the upcoming elections.
