
Mangaluru, Jun 4, 2026: The Mangalore Electricity Supply Company (MESCOM) has stepped up its monsoon preparedness by deploying dedicated emergency response teams and additional vehicles across its jurisdiction to address weather-related disruptions during the rainy season.
According to MESCOM Managing Director Jaya Kumar R, a task force of 489 personnel has been deployed as emergency response teams across 14 divisions in the four districts under its jurisdiction. In addition, 62 vehicles have been positioned to ensure swift restoration of power supply during outages. A separate 23-member team has been assigned to handle consumer calls and complaints.
In Dakshina Kannada district, MESCOM has deployed personnel and vehicles across key divisions: Attavar Division (12 personnel, 6 vehicles), Kavoor Division (36 personnel, 8 vehicles), Puttur Division (48 personnel, 8 vehicles), and Bantwal Division (50 personnel, 7 vehicles).
In Udupi district, the Udupi division has 55 personnel and five vehicles, Karkala division 24 personnel and four vehicles, and Kundapura division 48 personnel. In Shivamogga district, Shivamogga Division has 33 personnel and one vehicle, Shikaripura 24 personnel and three vehicles, Bhadravathi 20 personnel and two vehicles, and Sagar 34 personnel and six vehicles. In Chikkamagaluru district, Chikkamagaluru Division has 40 personnel and four vehicles, Koppa 41 personnel and three vehicles, and Kadur 34 personnel and seven vehicles.
MESCOM MD said tree trimming of branches posing a risk to power lines has already begun and is progressing in several areas. Repair and strengthening of damaged or vulnerable poles and power lines are also underway as part of the preparedness drive.
He added that pre-monsoon measures are being implemented across all four districts and instructed field officers to ensure preventive steps within their jurisdictions.
