
Mangaluru, Mar 18, 2026: A man allegedly attempted to kill another by ramming his car into a two-wheeler following a dispute over a land deal in Mangaluru on Tuesday (March 17). The accused has been taken into custody by police.
The injured has been identified as Mohan Das Shetty (56), a resident of Mallikatte, while the accused is Mohammed Sharif.
According to police, Mohan Das Shetty had a land transaction with Mohammed Sharif and his father, Mohammed Iqbal. The accused had reportedly invested around ₹2 crore in properties at Surathkal Kana and Vamanjoor. However, suspecting that he had been cheated, Sharif confronted Shetty.
On Tuesday morning around 11 am, the accused allegedly spoke to Shetty near Arya Samaj Road and snatched his mobile phone. Later, when Shetty was riding his two-wheeler, Sharif allegedly drove his Innova Crysta car at high speed and rammed into the vehicle from behind in an attempt to kill him.
A case has been registered at Mangaluru East Police Station. Police have arrested the accused Mohammed Sharif and produced him before the court, according to a statement.
