Mangaluru, Sep 22, 2025: Mulki police on Saturday arrested a man who arrived in an auto-rickshaw and allegedly tried to sell ganja near Karnad.

The accused has been identified as Yathiraj (27), a resident of Katipalla Krishnapura, Surathkal. Police said he was caught red-handed with 1.2 kg of ganja, the auto used for transportation, and ₹300 cash believed to be proceeds from previous sales. He was later remanded to judicial custody.

Drug peddlar

Earlier, on September 14, police had arrested three persons — Prajwal (25) of Kapikad, Mulki; Pramod (22) of Kurikatte, Baikampady; and Steven (29) — on charges of ganja consumption. During interrogation, they provided crucial information about Yathiraj, leading to his arrest.

Speaking about the operation, police officers said, “Information from earlier arrests helped us identify and apprehend a key supplier of ganja. This is an important step in cracking down on the local distribution network.”

Mulki police have seized the narcotics, the vehicle, and cash, and are intensifying surveillance to dismantle the growing network of illegal drug activities in the region.
